Abstract :
Multilayer films of (FePt 2 nm/Ag 5 nm) × 10 are synthesized on MgO [100] substrate using laser ablation. The layered structure of the multilayers thus fabricated is preserved even after annealing at 600°C for 15 min. The annealed multilayer films exhibit high perpendicular magnetic anisotropy composed of the L10 phase. A Barkhausen volume VB is found to be as small as 10-19 cm3.
