Abstract
The 15N hydrogen profiling method is used to characterize the reaction between water and soda-lime and reactor waste glasses. It is seen that the parameters which describe both the diffusion controlled hydration process and the etching of the glass surface can be determined. The relationship between the archaeological problem of hydration dating and the problem of predicting the long term stability of reactor glasses is discussed.
