Abstract
This letter presents an improved technique to identify the traveling direction (TD) of the partial discharge (PD) on the overhead covered conductors. A hybrid PD transducer based on the Rogowski coil is developed for online PD detection. An experimental study is performed on a 10-kV XLPE covered conductor to prove the effectiveness of this technique.
