Abstract
The paper deals with selected topics and problem areas of x-ray tubes, particularly those with rotating anodes, as they relate to CT scanner requirements. Only the main limiting factors will be treated, such as "rotor ripple", heat problems, off-focus x-rays, and high voltage stability. Some basic considerations are given to super large x-ray source assemblies for ultra fast scanners. Because of the extent of x-ray tube physics and engineering, the discussion had to be kept short.
