Abstract
A computer program for calculating the electrical and mechanical properties of overhead conductors has been developed. The program requires as input only the steel and aluminum cross-sectional areas. The conductors be standard round-wire or compact (trap-wire) designs. The method can be used with programs that optimize the design of transmission lines, permitting rapid investigation of lines designed with conductors that may not yet exist. The program has been integrated with an accurate AC resistance model, various ampacity programs and a sag-tension program
