Abstract :
The highly transportable very-long-baseline interferometry (VLBI) station presented consists of a small parabolic antenna (diameter: 3 m), a compact back-end system, and a compact frequency standard (crystal oscillator) suitable for mobile experiments. Preliminary experiments using some parts of the highly transportable VLBI station on a short baseline were carried out; the baseline vector was determined and it agrees with the result of conventional measurement within four cm for each vector component. From these experiments the performance of the station was checked, and the fringe amplitude which will be obtained in a long baseline experiment is estimated
