Abstract
Two multiple access candidates for next generation (4G) downlink cellular radio systems in a multi-cell environment are addressed. An orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) scheme, and a multi-carrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) scheme are studied. Upper and lower bounds for error performances are given to compare the two multiple access proposals. Finally, a hybrid partitioned cellular structure is proposed to provide best error performances.
