Abstract :
In this note, we prove that in two-dimensional (2-D) systems, the arbitrary coefficient assignment cannot be achieved by using causal output feedbacks. The problem, however, can be transformed into the design of systems over rings in order to find conditions guaranteeing the existence of a solution. Some related problems are also discussed.
