Abstract :
Many new biomedical imaging modalities have arisen during the past decade which exploit the creation of images via computed tomography, or the processing of images generated by conventional radiographic techniques. These improved imaging capabilities are motivating advancements both in the capabilities of the computers which carry out the processing steps, and in the flexibility of display devices for rapid visualization of the result of the image creation and post processing procedures. Several important trends in the technology of advanced processors and displays relevant to the biomedical environment will be described.
