  • Abstract
    The bit error rate and waveform of transform-limited optical solitons generated by a sinusoidally modulated electroabsorption modulator using a circulating loop are characterised. Less than 10-9 BER was achieved at 2.5 Gbit/s over 6400 km. The results show the promising future of simple and stable optical pulse generation using electroabsorption modulators.
