Abstract
A miniature charged particle spectroscopy system has been developed. The system consists of a light-tight solid state charge particle detector, charge sensitive preamplifier, linear shaping amplifier and single channel analyzer (SCA). Energy spectroscopy can be accomplished by use of the linear shaping amplifier output, or specific energy levels can be investigated by the use of the SCA output. Through the use of a standard p-type surface barrier detector and thick film hybrid microelectronic technology, the complete system is contained in less than one cubic inch (16.4cm3) of space. Compact size and low power consumption (typically 150mW) make the system ideal for portable or remote applications.
