Abstract :
The optical frequency combs generated by pulse and sinusoidal modulation of an LiNbO3 Mach-Zehnder device are compared and contrasted. It is shown that the former operates with lower drive, although being restricted to narrower tooth spacings than offered by the sinusoidal technique.
