Abstract
1.7 Tbit/s (85×22.8 Gbit/s) transmission over a transpacific distance of 9180 km using distributed Raman amplifiers followed by 35 nm C-band erbium-doped fibre amplifiers is demonstrated. A symmetrically collided transmission methodology mitigates unwanted waveform distortion caused by cross-phase modulation.
