Abstract
A novel tool with substantial savings in computer time, to be used in the control center to aid the system operator when the system is in distress, is presented. The authors use the bus impedance matrix and simple calculations to determine the overload of any particular line. The technique used is a simplification of a well-tested contingency analysis computer program
