  • Abstract
    This paper covers the development and testing of a controlled closing device for controlling conventional 500-kV power circuit breakers (PCB) equipped with one closing resistor in each phase. Results of preliminary switching surge model studies and subsequent field tests of a prototype of the control device are included.
