Abstract :
This paper deals with a study of a high-speed distance relay using a microcomputer. Operating task, performance and hardware system configuration of the microcomputer and operating characteristics of the high-speed distance relay are discussed. Achievement of rapid operating time and assurance of reliable operation of a relay system are inconsistent with each other, and therefore consideration has been made on the structure of the operating task of the microcomputer to compromise these two problems. The hardware system of the microcomputer has been formed so as to show the full capability of the high-speed processing. Through various characteristic tests, it has been demonstrated that a prototype relay manufactured under the above consideration has satisfactory characteristics as a high-speed distance relay.
