Abstract :
Nonresonant microwave absorption at 9.5 GHz has been studied in bulk and single-crystal samples of Y1Ba2Cu3 O7. It is shown that, when measured as a function of temperature, the directly monitored absorption is sensitive to the onset of bulk superconductivity whereas the magnetically modulated absorption results primarily from the weakly superconducting regions in the sample that show enhanced sensitivity to the applied magnetic field
