Abstract :
A statistical analysis of the sine-wave frequency estimate obtained by the adaptive notch filter (ANF) recently proposed by A. Nehorai (ibid., vol.ASSP-33, p.983-96, Aug. 1985) is presented. Asymptotically valid expressions for the bias and mean-square error of the frequency estimate are provided. The analysis verifies the performance exhibited by the ANF, and clarifies the role of some user variables, such as the notch bandwidth and the number of data samples processed
