Abstract
This paper presents a technique for the measurement of transfer functions of individual components and overall systems under normal operating conditions. The technique relies on the introduction of a pseudo-random binary signal into the system. The signal is of such low level as to be unnoticeable at the output terminals of the system under test. Test results obtained on a 40 MW alternator and its associated AVR are described.
