Abstract :
Various improvements in the accelerator tube, the data recording and the data processing have pushed the statistical precision of the determination of T to previously unattainable levels. Further improvements in the T determined by the near spaced detector must wait on faster detec´tors since we are now approaching significant dead-time losses for the near spaced detector. The improved precision of the far spaced detector determination of T and its relative freedom from diffusion corrections will be very important in enhanced recovery studies and residual-oil-measurements. In the latter case the availability the decay curve data will allow alternative processing techniques (such as a longer delay before initiating the calculation of T) which can reduce further the small residual diffusion effects in the far spaced detector.
