Abstract :
An extension of the reservation virtual time CSMA (R-VT-CSMA) protocol which is used for packet voice in broadcast networks is presented. The available bandwidth is split into a narrowband signalling channel and a wideband message channel. The advantage of this architecture is that contention resolution is performed in parallel with packet transmission. This result in a significant improvement in throughput.
