Abstract :
In this paper, we present a generalized methodology for synthesizing narrowband amplifiers in coupled microstrip systems and detail a novel narrowband amplifier in a three-coupled microstrip topology utilizing chip capacitors for matching networks. The purpose of such a configuration is to validate the synthesis of microwave amplifiers in coupled microstrip technology (the ground plane being common to many fabrication technologies) where the planarity inherent to coplanar designs alleviates the need for vias, thereby reducing fabrication cost.
