Abstract
A theoretical formulation is introduced to predict the scattering transmission coefficients, relative modal powers and radiated field patterns of an overmoded coaxial waveguide excited by a single coaxial probe. Various experimental set-ups were designed to measure the spatial variation of the multi-moded waveguide electric field and the related radiation field patterns. The model provided a close correlation with the measured data for structures supporting up to and including the TE 31 mode over the majority of the 0.05-10.25 GHz frequency range
