Abstract :
A composite material has recently been described in a patent application for which the dielectric constant increases substantially with electric field. While the patent describes the material in some detail, including providing examples of composites and processing methods which do and do not produce field-dependent dielectric constant, the patent provides no suggestion of the mechanism which produces the increasing dielectric constant with field. The present contribution suggests mechanisms which are consistent with the data in the patent application based on numerical computations.
