  • Abstract
    A carbon-coated fibre with 6.2 kgf failure strength and an n value of 670 is obtained for the first time. The carbon surface roughness was evaluated from STM images and a flat carbon coating was found to be essential in preventing the initial strength degradation of the fibre.
