  • Abstract
    It is pointed out that odd multipole fields yield uncommon magnetic energy profiles but can be built up only partially. The tripole may be of special interest since grad B2=const. It has been shown that superconducting coils may bring these fields in the 100-T2/m range within reach over an extended space. The design is effected by computer programs
