Abstract :
DESIRE is a new interactive simulation system for minicomputers. DESIRE is exceptionally convenient for modelling new control systems because, unlike earlier continuous-system simulation systems, it executes directly on a RUN command and still runs 1.3 to 5 times faster than minicomputer Fortran. Experimenters can see effects of system as well as parameter changes without noticeable translation delays. Examples of control system applications include interactive simulation of a nonlinear servo, iterative parameter optimization, matrix operations, and especially efficient simulation of continuous-variable plants with digital controllers.
