Abstract :
This paper presents an input device with four degrees of freedom that can be used for various applications. The system comprises an array of lateral Hall elements implemented on a single chip in standard CMOS technology. A computationally efficient evaluation algorithm is presented that can be easily implemented on a simple microcontroller or dedicated hardware within the integrated circuit.
