  • Abstract
The industrial Internet, which includes intelligent industrial systems and interconnections, is accelerating the fourth industrial revolution and the world´s transformation into the Internet of Anything. This transformation is being driven by the rapid deployment of intelligent industrial systems that interconnect to industrial and information systems. The energy sector is transforming as intelligent energy industrial systems interconnect and use information from industrial monitoring systems, external industrial systems, and information systems. The deployment of intelligent energy systems to the industrial Internet has economic and environmental benefits, but also many technical challenges with interconnectivity and security. This article provides examples of intelligent energy systems that have been deployed within the industrial Internet, and describes benefits and challenges associated with their deployment.
