Abstract :
A rapid thermal anneal for forming films of garnet phase deposited by sputtering is discussed, and the magnetic, magnetooptical, and optical properties of the annealed materials are examined. It was found that the rapid thermal anneal kinetics in the temperature range from 620 to 680°C involves a high activation energy for crystallization which is diffusion-controlled growth, whereas in a higher temperature range it has a relatively low activation energy. It is concluded that the controllability of magnetic properties can be achieved through the rapid thermal annealing method
