Abstract
A 1×2 optical switch, which also functions as wavelength demultiplexer, is designed and experimentally fabricated utilising a phase plate and a twisted nematic liquid crystal. Measured insertion loss, crosstalk attenuation, and transit time are <1.5 dB, >17.6 dB, and <80 ms, respectively
