Abstract :
Today, control system technology is driven by the microprocessor, and, as is well known, microprocessor-based control systems are much more flexible than their analog predecessors. The combination of new hardware (microprocessors, smart sensors, power electronics) and the increased flexibility requires a much more integrated hardware/analysis approach to control system synthesis. This presentation will highlight some of the ways that Ford Motor Company is employing such an approach in the development of microprocessor controlled power trains.
