Abstract :
Considers the variance of the carrier phase estimate resulting from two types of digital feedforward synchronisers operating on a noisy multi-PSK waveform. Computer simulations (for BPSK, QPSK and 8-PSK) indicate that both types yield a similar performance, and are asymptotically optimum.
