Abstract :
As Electronics Letters entered its fifth decade of publication, it inaugurated a series of invited overview articles on various hot topics from the breadth of the research activities encompassed. In this issue, we have the honour of presenting an article written by Professor Andrew Blake of Microsoft Research Cambridge. Previously he was with the Robotics Research Group of the Department of Engineering Science in the University of Oxford. A Distinguished Fellow of the British Machine Vision Association, Professor Blake is one of the world authorities in computer vision. His brief article entitled ´Visual tracking: a very short research roadmap´ gives us only a small taste of the magnitude of the task of realising the ambition of creating artificial intelligence.
