Abstract :
The authors present two relations that are very useful in the analysis of ATM-queues fed by multiple types of traffic. One relation concerns the position of an arbitrarily chosen or tagged cell within the bulk of cells arriving during the same slot. The other links the distributions of the buffer contents at arbitrary slot boundaries and as seen by departures. As an illustrative example, the authors further present the queueing analysis of a simple ATM-multiplexer model, which allows them to investigate the effect of correlation between different traffic streams
