  • Abstract
Three ferrite spinel systems with locally canted iron spins were investigated by high-field magnetization measurements. In two systems, iron spins are canted in both sublattices. A collinear order is not observed up to H=20 T for 4.2 K⩽TT N. The magnetization measurements show that a randomly canted ferrimagnetic structure exists at all temperatures with magnetic short-range order around TN. The mean canting angles generally decrease with increasing field and perhaps with increasing temperature. In these complex magnetic structures, the canting angles increase with iron dilution or zinc concentrations, and the properties evolve towards either a spin-glass-like state or an antiferromagnetic state
