Abstract :
The records that Jack Kilby, developer of the monolithic integrated circuit, kept of his progress 30 years ago are examined. His was a demonstration of the first working semiconductor integrated circuit, a phase-shift oscillator. This showed that the IC concept was applicable to linear circuits.<>
