Abstract
A simple analytical method is presented which improves upon the Hermite-Gauss field proposed by S.K. Korotky et al. (1982) for diffused waveguides by taking into account the evanescent field in the cover region. The method is used to analyze the propagation characteristics of diffused planar and channel waveguides
