During a discussion of teaching styles at our faculty retreat last week, I was surprised to discover that I was the only professor (out of 20) who has banned laptop and cell phone use during lectures. As a new teacher two years ago, I had heard the rumors of rampant Internet surfing during lectures. So I instituted a zero-tolerance policy, in which the second slide of every lecture I teach states ``Class Comportment.¿¿
