  • Abstract
    A description is given of the performance of a charge position encoder of high linearity which combines advantageous features of the graded-density (GD) electrode and of the capacitance-resistance (CR) line. A novel aspect is the use of a non-uniform line. An eight-section CR-GD cathode has been employed with a MWPC of area 10 cm × 10 cm to yield rms differential non-linearity of 0.8% and rms positional resolution, for 1.5 keV X-rays, of 80 ¿m.
