Abstract :
An optically pumped light emitting device based on colloidally synthesised semiconductor nanocrystals embedded in a vertical cavity is presented. The structure consists of a cavity several micrometres thick with a silver and a PbO/BaF2 Bragg mirror. Strongly forward directed spontaneous emission is observed at room temperature.
