Abstract :
This paper presents the CHP system at 717 5th Avenue produces electricity, hot water, and chilled water to supplement the buildin´s current energy needs and produce electricity at roughly twice the efficiency of the grid, ~60%. This system also reduces the cost of energy while providing backup power. In addition, the building owners receive payments from the NYISO for participating in the NY demand response program. This project confirms that CHP benefits the user, utility, and consumers overall.
