Abstract :
Liquid-core directional couplers are fabricated in silica-on-silicon, monolithically integrated with silica waveguides at the input and output ports. The device output as a function of device length is shown experimentally using a series of devices of different lengths with toluene as the core medium. The experimental results agree with simulations, and the device is shown to be polarization insensitive. Applications in sensing, filtering and optical processing are discussed
