Abstract
Maentwrog hydro electric power station is Nuclear Electric´s smallest generating plant. Its ownership by Nuclear Electric is due to the fact that Trawsfynydd nuclear power station uses the same lake for cooling water. Trawsfynydd nuclear power station was built in the early 1960s and remains unique as the only inland nuclear power station in Britain. The hydro station for which the lake was constructed dates from the early 1920s. Its original output of 18 MW, later extended to 24 MW, has recently been refurbished and its capacity increased to 30 MW. The author tells something of the early history of Maentwrog and describes the new plant
