    To be an effective leader, one has to be aware of the people in one´s team and find some way of winning people´s hearts and minds so that strategies and targets can become realities. The paper discusses the first steps a new leader should take for effective leadership. The steps consider emotional challenges, knowing the team, and becoming strategic.
