Abstract :
Magnetostrictive strains and magnetic induction have been measured as a function of applied DC field and pressure on the giant magnetostrictive material TbxDy1-xFey ( x=0.3, 1.92⩽y⩽1.95). Dynamic measurements of the magnetomechanical coupling k33 as a function of DC bias field and pressure have been obtained using a novel pressure rig. These results have provided data on how the properties of the materials required for optimal device operation change with operating conditions
