Abstract :
Experiments on the compression of linear frequency-modulated S band pulses in an axially magnetised yttrium-iron-garnet rod are reported. The specimen was operated at room temperature in the magnetoelastic one-port delay mode. Time compression by a factor of 72 has been achieved with a 1 ¿s input pulse frequency-modulated by 125 Mc/s.
