Short-wave radiation pattern emitted by a slab with a periodically modulated refractive index

Comments are made on the radiation patterns predicted in the literature for a slab with a c.w. periodically modulated refractive index. A microwave system is described which should, generate bands of discrete lines in a limited range of frequencies in the millimetre or far-infrared regions.
