Abstract :
Florensis is one of the largest flower producers in the world, with approximately 20 hectares of growing capacity throughout Northwest Europe, England, Germany and Kenya. The company specialises in the production, selection and sale of flower seeds and young plant material from seeds and cuttings. To transport products throughout its European facilities it uses unique ´plug module´ returnable plastic trays. Returnable plastic trays are the most efficient way to protect and transport the plant materials, but the problem is that many times the trays are not returned from customers. This results in frequent repurchases of new trays. The company was looking for a way to reduce the material cost of its transport packaging and sought a solution that could identify and track each tray to know exactly which tray went to which customer. Furthermore, Florensis wanted to increase accuracy levels in their outbound shipment procedures, to ensure that their customers receive exactly what they ordered.
