Abstract :
A mixed p.c.m.¿f.m. system is described, which employs low-resolution p.c.m. for a coarse representation of the information function and narrowband f.m. to remove the quantisation noise. By a suitable division of the p.c.m. and f.m. bandwidths, the best signal/noise improvement can be achieved.
